Deborah Taylor is a professional photographer who lives and works in the Thatcham area. Studied at the Berkshire College of Art and Design in Reading and left there in 1995 with an OND & HND in Photography with portfolio distinction. After working for Reading University, the print industry and for a marketing and creative company, she went freelance. She is married to Jason who runs a successful landscape gardening business, Taylor Made Gardens.
She is a creative photographer in the fine art field, with specialisation in landscapes and still life. She has a love of black and white photography, feeling that it allows the subject to be laid open for the viewer to see it more clearly. Black and white images hold a strong place in her heart, with influences from photographer André Kertez and Bob Carlos Clarke.
Inspiration is found in everyday objects and beautiful vistas. She is not adverse to colour work however and her subjects can be strong in colour and form. People have often described her work as having a graphic, and almost a painting-like quality. She exhibits most years through the West Berkshire & North Hampshire Open Studios Scheme.
In the Press:
Newbury Weekly News, Thursday October 25th 2012 - 'Site specific' theme for Open
"Deborah Taylor shows 'Man of War Bay, Dorset', a masterfully composed black and white photograph, heavy with brooding clouds. No gimmicks here: just a good eye, tight control of materials and composition, and the patience to wait for the right moment of coalescence between light and subject to press the shutter." Lin Wilkinson
Her interests include Zumba, running, reading and Pilates. Deborah learnt conversational French for over 5 years (and still has much to learn). Based in Newbury and Hungerford, Catherine Lebreuil is a wonderful teacher and ensures that the class is always a lot of fun, www.lebreuil.net
